Responsibilities & Qualifications

Position: Accounting Manager

Reports to: Director of Accounting

Classification: Regular, Full-time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Accounting Manager is to contribute to the success of the accounting department by performing accounting support and tasks as well as leading the accounting team. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Assist Director of Accounting in all accounting and financial functions. Timeliness and accuracy are key to the success of this role. Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly close processes, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, franchise fee reporting, quarterly and annual tax reporting and overseeing the annual financial audits. The Accounting Manager will be the Subject Matter Expert for the NetSuite financial system. The Accounting Manager will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the reporting process more efficient and accurate. Provide a full range of fiscal services and management tools as is required in the hospitality and recreational industry. The Accounting Manager is an effective people manager who can motivate and educate team members.

  1. Assisting in the preparation of timely and accurate weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and reports for review.
  2. Reviewing G/L coding of all transactions ensuring they are booked properly.
  3. Be the NetSuite system Subject Matter Expert.
  4. Hiring, coaching, mentoring, teaching, managing, and reviewing the accounting team.
  5. Assisting and learning each of the tasks of the accountants to be their back-up if necessary.
  6. Assisting in the successful completion of audits. This includes work paper preparation and handling questions.
  7. Assist in preparing documentation for the successful completion of the tax returns prepared by outside CPA firms.
  8. Ensuring reconciliations of the bank accounts and other Balance Sheet accounts are performed monthly.
  9. Review and modify internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
  10. Identify inefficiencies with current processes allowing us to work smarter not harder.
  11. Assist the Director of Accounting to develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting data. Appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and the overall fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness of company.
  12. Assist in establishing economic objectives and policies.
  13. Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
  14. Handle all Company requests and affairs as priority and with discretion
  15. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local corporate, payroll and other taxes.
  16. Anticipate the needs of the Director of Accounting
  17. Maintain compliance with the above job description for all areas.
  18. Assist Director of Accounting and other Senior Management with any job duties necessary for the success of the department
  19. Manage the permit and licensing process under the supervision of the Director of Accounting.
  20. Assist the Director of Accounting with the annual insurance renewal process. Responsible for reconciling intercompany insurance allocations and determining if the allocations are correct and appropriate.
  21. Oversee the fixed asset and inventory processes including reviewing journal entries and preparing monthly reconciliation and reports.




  • BA/BS Degree with emphasis in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years minimum of progressively responsible corporate accounting experience including staff supervision.
  • Exceptional computer skills with accounting software and in the operation and functioning of all programs used by Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean 3-year history and no DUI convictions in the past 5 years.



  • BA/BS Degree with emphasis in accounting.
  • Relevant industry experience working for a small to medium sized growth-oriented company in a hospitality/recreation based, high- transaction environment
  • Experience with NetSuite financial system
