Responsibilities & Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Possess all required Marine Mechanic Certificates.
  • 3+ years previous marine mechanic experience that includes marine engine diagnosis and repair and guest service.
  • Expert boat, vehicle and equipment repair/maintenance knowledge.
  • Ability to assess and determine what needs to be done, with minimum supervision.
  • Willing and able to work outside, daily, in all weather conditions-including 100+ degree temperatures.
  • Good English language skills, math computation skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Able to swim
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License with clean 3 year record.
  • Able to follow directions and work with others as a team.
  • Work efficiently as an individual and be self-motivated.
  • Reliable transportation

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years college or continuing mechanical education.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Provides maintenance and repair of marina rental fleet, company vehicles and equipment.

Job pays $23.00

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assists in maintaining proper controls for safeguarding service department assets, including but not limited to rental fleet, inventory and equipment.

 

  • Helps maintain an above average appearance for all service department areas.

 

  • Understands and complies with government regulations pertaining to service department functions.  Maintains a professional relationship with all agencies, contractors, vendors, and guests.

 

  • Ensures and takes appropriate action for the proper maintenance of all service department equipment. Follows or develops a routine preventative maintenance program.

 

  • Ensures the safety of guests and employees. Understands and complies with the safe use of service department equipment. Understands and complies with the established Training Programs.

 

  • Assist with boat inspections and marina duties when needed.

 

 

Be a willing member of The California Parks Company, performing all duties and functions as assigned to the best of his/her ability.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

 

The Mechanic will use various tools and equipment on a daily basis.  Footwear required shall be a work boot or a high quality leather shoe with non-skid sole providing ankle support.  No open toe sandals or flip flops will be allowed on the job.  Protective guards shall be required for all appropriate occasions: including gloves, goggles, galoshes, masks, long pants, and long sleeve shirts according to the nature of the task.  The Mechanic will be knowledgeable in the safety practices and standards set by the company, relative to the work environment he/she operates in.  He/she will also make it a duty to assure that all co-workers are working with those same safety practices and standards.
